Worship the King

The Wise Men in the Christmas story teach each of us a powerful testimony in the Christian walk of life; for these men demonstrate traits we should try to imitate: those of humility, worship and giving.

In the Bible it is written in (Matthew 2: 11)  “ And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.

One commentary I read on the internet had this to say about these men. It said:

“When we seek God with sincere determination, we will find him. He is not hiding from us, but wants to have an intimate relationship with each of us. These wise men paid Jesus the kind of respect only God deserves, bowing before him and worshiping him. Jesus is not just a great teacher or admirable person as many people say today, but the Son of the Living God. After the Three Kings met Jesus, they did not go back the way they came. When we get to know Jesus Christ, we are changed forever and cannot go back to our old life.”
This Sunday we will have an opportunity to come to Daniels Chapel Church for another Lord’s Day of worship and praise. Over and over I cannot thank God enough for the wonderful year it has been at the Church and for the souls that have been saved and the new faces that continue to walk through our doors for the Church’s many programs, ministries and discipleship opportunities. This Advent season has been one of the best and we look forward to gathering Sunday morning and evening to praise and thank Jesus Christ for His birth!! What I want to impress upon you today is that this is another great time to “Worship the King!!”
During the services Sunday we will receive our annual Christmas offering. Our goal this year is $25,000. Let us come before God Sunday as the wise men came to Jesus Christ. Please prayerfully consider bringing the biggest offering to God you can for we can never out give God nor thank Him enough for salvation. As well the Church depends upon your presence, utilization of your talents and the giving of His Tithes and our Offerings to help meet the budget and plan for short and long term goals in all areas of the Church.
In closing I am happy to share with you another great fact in that God will be here Sunday morning and evening for Jesus is NOT hiding from our problems; for He is the One true solution and we should come to worship and honor Him!! In respect to God, let us humbly come to Church with sincere and loving hearts to not just worship our new-born King but to bring Christ and His Church a special offering of gratitude and thanksgiving.
Join us Sunday at these times for Worship:
8:30 AM     Fellowship CafĂ©
8:45 AM     Aaron’s Prayer Band
9 AM          Sunday school
10 AM        Morning Worship Service “Sounds of the Season” – Church Sanctuary
6PM           Carol and Candlelight Service – Church Sanctuary
Blessings to all and MERRY CHRISTMAS!! I look forward to seeing you Sunday as we WORSHIP THE LORD JESUS CHRIST! Let us bring an offering of worship to our King!!
I Love You!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

As I sit at my desk at the Church office writing this week’s Pastoral Letter of Encouragement, I am mindful that I could type for hours upon hours on the subject of being thankful to our awesome God. I am sure that you feel the same way too. God is so GOOD!!! We cannot THANK HIM ENOUGH!!!
I have said many times and I have heard others state that “Everyday should be Thanksgiving!” That is certainly a true and valid statement with much merit and credibility. I have learned that the more THANKFUL I am the happier and more content I become. The more THANKFUL I am the more grateful I am to Jesus Christ “from whom all blessings flow!!”
Everyday should be Thanksgiving. Not solely because we will spend time with family and eat a great meal. Not only because we get to watch great football and basketball on television tomorrow. And not because many of you will be heading out at midnight Thanksgiving evening to begin shopping. The reason that Thanksgiving Day is a great day as well as every day is because of what God’s Word says in (Psalm 118:24) This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
Dear friends, never forget to THANK GOD!! As you gather with loved ones and friends on Thursday take a moment to reflect on all the blessings you have. My challenge to you is make this a DAILY HABIT!! In our world and even in our community many people grumble and complain and can never be satisfied. Personal preferences, opinions and emotional reactions to contrary words and thoughts can dampen your spirit, draw you away from Christ and even take you away from the Church. Attitudes affect people in the workplace, those in higher education and children in school as well as God’s sheep no matter of age or gender. Don’t be bound by negativism or inclusiveness. Don’t be grumpy or sidetracked. Be THANKFUL for Jesus, your family, His Church and all the opportunities, privileges and blessings we have as God’s children.
Let these words from the Holy Bible speak to your heart this day:
(Psalms 92:1) “It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to Your name, O most High.”
(Psalm 30: 11-12) “ You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, to the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever.”
(I Corinthians 15: 57) “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!! Let us be thankful to the Lord Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father!! This is the day the Lord has made!! Be glad and be THANKFUL!!
Let us pray: Dear God, help us to experience and express THANKSGIVING everyday!! Thank You from whom all blessings flow. We can never THANK YOU ENOUGH for all You give and all that You promise. In the lovely name of Jesus, AMEN.
Have a safe and happy time! I look forward to seeing you on Sunday for our services! Great things are planned and in store again for this Sunday morning and evening. Make sure to come and be with us; invite someone to join you and prayerfully ask God’s Spirit to overflow us with “Showers of Blessings.”
I Love You!!

My Help!!

In this week’s edition of Pastoral Letters of Encouragement, I want to focus on a few thoughts regarding the subject of help. Every person young and old needs help. Help is defined as “to give relief; to find deliverance; to aide, ease and to change for the better; to improve or aid in assistance.” No matter who you are, there will be many times in life on the way to Heaven that you will need H-E-L-P HELP!
Consider these questions:
·         Where do you go when there is no one else to turn?
·         Who do you lean on in times of trouble and despair?
·         Where do you go for tranquility and to find a peaceful harbor?
·         Where do you search for answers?
·         Where do you look for guidance and strength?
One thing I will mention in Sunday’s message titled, “Focus on God” is the fact that if we only spend 1 hour in Worship a week, then we are spending the other 167 hours of a week’s time out in the world. That is why I encourage you at all times to spend time with the Lord Jesus Christ and to please come to our services and activities at Daniels Chapel Church when the doors are open. Please take time and read I Corinthians 10: 1-12 prior to Sunday and you will see what I am talking about.
God is our refuge and strength and the local Church is where we come to build bonds of friendship with the Lord Jesus Christ and other people. I need the Lord every hour of every day. I need His HELP for without Him how lost I would be.
In this world it is difficult to cope and you will have a hard time if you try and make it through on your own. Why go through the anxiety, fear and heartache when you can “feast from the table of life” and “drink from His fountain.” Never forget that you do not have to look far to find Jesus and never in life should you take the mindset to walk alone. Help is here, so FOCUS ON GOD! FOCUS ON GOD! FOCUS ON GOD!!!
In closing, read these words and may they speak to your heart and soul.
I will lift up my eyes to the hills-- where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip-- he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you-- the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, or the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm-- he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.  (Psalm 121)
Let us pray:    Oh Holy Father, we look to You continually for HELP for our HELP comes from Thee. Whatever we need right now please supply and then help us to praise You for watching our coming and going both now and forever more. Thanks for all Your HELP and please keep sending HELP our way!! We need YOU Lord Jesus!! Finally dear God, prepare our hearts to Worship You on Sunday. Let us have REVIVAL and services this Lord’s Day like we have at Cragmont during the Family Retreat weekend and during the 4 weekends each summer of Old Fashioned Meeting. Prepare us for a grand time to experience Your Presence and Touch. Thank You for forgiveness, salvation and a brand new life. HELP us and HELP US TO REACH THE LOST! In Jesus Name… AMEN
I LOVE ALL OF YOU!! Have a safe and blessed weekend!! See you Sunday!! Be sure to be here and invite someone to come along!! It is going to be a great time in the Lord!!!

An Heir to God (Galatians 3: 1-5; 26-29)

(Galatians 3:26-29)
26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
In the New Testament book of Galatians we read great words of promise and joy I felt led to share with you this week in my Pastoral Letters of Encouragement. At the very outset of this Chapter, the Apostle Paul begins with a very strong statement in verse 1 yet he concludes this chapter with inspiration and words that say “heirs according to the promise.”
In fact, let us read what Paul says from the outset of Galatians 3.
1 O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified?
2 This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3 Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?
4 Have you suffered so many things in vain--if indeed it was in vain?
5 Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? –
Here are a few thoughts I have on these passages.
·         Everyone can be “foolish” for everyone sins and falls short at times. Some are also “foolish” because of a word called DOUBT.

·         Satan is very busy today to “bewitch” you from the truth found in Jesus Christ. Do not give into his tactics or divisive plans.

·         When you asked Christ into your life His Spirit came to dwell within, not without. Don’t let your conscience be your guide. Let the Holy Spirit lead your heart in the pathway of Jesus Christ.

·         Allow the Spirit of God to constantly and continually overpower the flesh. Jesus Christ death for you was for a purpose, not defeat.

·         If you are a saved redeemed Christian, you are a child of God so clothe yourself in Christ!!

·         In Christ, you are a part of Abraham’s seed. Christians are a “Child of the King!!”

·          God has many promises for you that we find in His Word. Read, study, apply and believe these promises in your life and never doubt God for a minute!!

·         Because of Jesus Christ, rejoice-be glad-get happy and shout hallelujah…. You are an HEIR TO GOD!!
Have an awesome weekend!! Enjoy this beautiful fall weather the Lord is providing and bringing our way!! Be sure to make the time to Worship your Heavenly Father and His Son, your Savior Jesus Christ on the Lord’s Day! Prepare your hearts for Sunday in these coming hours through reading the Bible and taking time to pray. I look forward to seeing all of you at Daniels Chapel Church for our great times of worship and praise on Sunday. Be sure to join us as we gather to worship Christ the Lord!!
Finally, do not forget… “Be strong in Jesus Christ!” You are an “HEIR TO GOD!!”
I LOVE YOU!!

Forgive Yourself

“Forgive Yourself!!”
As I begin this week’s edition of “Pastoral Letters of Encouragement,” I ask that you first read and dwell on the following verses of scripture. Also, meditate on these words and let them speak to your heart!! They are:
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (I John 1:9)
And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:32)
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1)
This week I had the opportunity of spending some time with someone; an individual I had not seen in quite some time. In our meeting I was glad to hear that they were doing fine, yet more appealing to me were the following words they spoke which were:
Pastor Johnny, I am doing great. I am closer to Christ than I have ever been. One thing I have learned spiritually and in getting closer to God was that it was OKAY to FORGIVE MYSELF of all the things I am ashamed of and not proud to admit. I have come to realize that I am not perfect and GOD HAS FORGIVEN ME!!”
I believe this message is a proper one for the proper time for Satan has a way of prohibiting people from becoming everything they can be in Jesus Christ. I have one strong message this week and it is: WAKE UP PEOPLE!! Satan’s number one agenda is for you to miss Heaven and to get you to be miserable here on earth. I am positive as I write these words today that many folks are not walking with God, attending Daniels Chapel Church and serving Jesus Christ because they CANNOT FORGIVE THEMSELVES!! WAKE UP!! WAKE UP!! WAKE UP!!
Many folks do not forgive themselves because Satan is strategically and deceptively telling the children of Jesus Christ that they are not good enough and because of the past they cannot move on into the future.  The devil is the master of using the past to ruin the present for he continually reminds us of what we said, what we did and what we failed to do or act upon for the Lord Jesus Christ. Satan even tries to tell us that God’s Word is a lie, yet the best thing we can ever do beloved is take God’s Word to heart and have faith in a God who loves unconditionally and supremely FORGIVES!!
Brothers and sisters, please listen to me today. If you ask for forgiveness and repent the Lord Jesus Christ will forgive you. If you ask for cleansing God will cleanse you through the blood of His Son. If you ask for forgiveness, forgive yourself and put yourself in life back in a position spiritually to move forward and not behind. There are a lot of people I have encountered in life that for some reason CANNOT forgive them self. Stop letting the Devil control and rule your life. Listen to God’s Spirit and slam the door in Satan’s face.
God has a great plan for you but to reach that destination put the past in the past. When you fail and mess it up (and all have and will), ask for forgiveness and remember that God puts these things as far as the east is from the west. (i.e. Psalm 103:12)
Do not let Satan steal your joy. Do not let Satan take you away from your Church. Do not let Satan rob you from your place of worship, service, spiritual growth, discipleship and fellowship at Daniels Chapel. I have seen Satan lie more in the last year than ever before in all my years of ministry. Jesus died for you to have life. Receive His forgiveness and FORGIVE YOURSELF!!
As I close please remember these words: “all have fallen short of the glory of God.” Move ahead my friends into an awesome future with Jesus Christ and be “justified by faith!!”
LET US PRAY: Father God, thank You for Your blessings. Thank You for forgiveness. Help us to forgive one another and help us to FORGIVE OURSELVES!!! In Jesus Holy and Lovely Name, AMEN.
Sunday is Loyalty Sunday. We have some special and great things planned that morning and evening. Also, read and meditate on Malachi 1 prior to the service as I conclude the sermon series, “Give Yourself Away.”
Again, always know that I LOVE AND CARE FOR ALL OF YOU!! Come join us this Sunday for Worship and Praise to the Lord Jesus Christ!!
In His Service,
Pastor Johnny

God Has Your Back!!

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
(Jeremiah 29:11)
Today I was speaking with a person from out of town who made the comment to me and said, “You know what Johnny, it is great to know that God has your back.” Since I heard the remark, I have thought so much about how this impacts and benefits my life and spiritually how this true statement makes all the difference. For a few moments I want to share about this truth in this week’s Pastoral Letters of Encouragement.
I cannot even begin to praise the Lord Jesus Christ for the fact that He alone “has my back.” This modern day slogan has been used in certain places I am personally aware of such as: athletic competitions, television and movies, books and periodicals as well as dialog between two friends and/or acquaintances. Even though that it is important, nothing comes close to the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ and His never-ending unconditional love!!
I decided to Google search this powerful 3 word slogan and found a great definition that read “To have one's back is to protect one from unanticipated matters, while one is attending to a particular function.” One place I researched stated that the 23rd Psalm was a great reminder to the body of Jesus Christ that “God Has My Back.”
As we enter this weekend and prepare for another time of worship and fellowship at Daniels Chapel Church, I want you to know my dear friends that “God Has Your Back.” There is absolutely NO ONE who loves YOU like your Heavenly Father and whatever you are going through or dealing with I want you to stand on His assurance right now of knowing that “God Has Your Back!!”
If you are hurting, upset, frustrated, down and out, tired, weary, and lonesome and filled with heartache, disgust, anguish and pain please know that Jesus Christ is YOUR PERSONAL SHEPHERD and He cares. If you are dealing with a hang-up, habit, critical decision or at a major crossroads in life that is filling you with anxiety, worry and doubt please understand and comprehend that GOD HAS YOUR BACK because He loves you and you are His most prized possession.
Today, tomorrow and forever we must remember that God has a bright and prosperous future for His Church. Yesterday is gone so truly cherish the day and live in this moment following Jesus Christ by being true to His Word and obedient to His cause. Strive to live in accordance of His will as you go out among others as a beacon of light in a community filled with much darkness. In all things do not be afraid. Do not give up. Do not give in. Have faith!! GOD HAS YOUR BACK!!!
The Psalmist writes:
(Psalm 23)
1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.
3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever.
Let us pray: God, we bow before You in prayer to simply say THANKS!!! Thank You for “having our back” and for providing and giving to us all blessings. Help us to honor You in all we do. Forgive us of our sins, shortcomings, faults and many failures and lead us to righteousness and holy living for thy name’s sake. Help us to look to You as our GREAT SHEPHERD!! Take care of us Your sheep. THANK YOU for “Having our Back!” In Christ precious and wonderful name, AMEN.
We have a great day planned on Sunday!!! Join us for wonderful times of worship filled with some surprises!!! I look forward to seeing you.
In closing let me also say this: always invite someone to join us at Daniels Chapel. Speak with those that we miss that we have not seen recently and encourage them to come back and always look for opportunities to invite those in the region to come and be a part of some awesome things God is doing at Daniels Chapel Church!!
Have a great weekend!! Be safe and smart!!! “GOD HAS YOUR BACK!!!!”
I LOVE YOU!!!

The Importance of Reading

Kenneth Hemphill wrote an interesting article on this subject recently. I love to read and believe that we gain many lessons in life from first reading God’s Word and then reading other QUALITY works that can enhance and brighten our steps. Let me share some of his thoughts regarding this topic for this week’s pastoral letter of encouragement. Hemphill writes:

“Can it be true that we no longer read? Could this explain why many churches struggle to recruit leaders for various ministry needs? Is this the primary reason that many churches have plateau and are declining? From 1940 to 1960 Southern Baptist increased enrollment in Bible study from 3,590,038 to 7,382,550. During that same period baptisms increased from 245,500 to 386,469. In 2007 Sunday School enrollment was 7,876,611 and baptisms totaled 345,941.”
He further states:
I believe there is a direct correlation. Church leaders were reading and growing and this, in turn, led to numerical and evangelistic growth for churches. This is a call to action. Let's love God with all our mind. Such a commitment would require that we renew our commitment to reading God's Word and supplementing that with other good Biblical materials that call us to act.”
Leadership is needed in the Church of Jesus Christ now more than ever. I would kindly remind all of you that read this blog that you are a LEADER FOR JESUS CHRIST if you are His Child. Education and training should never stop, for the awarding of a diploma and the turning of the tassel is only the beginning and not the end of the educational experience. The day you accepted Jesus into your heart and life was NOT the end. It was the beginning of a lifelong eternal walk with God with Graduation occurring when you walk through the gates of Heaven and hear the words, “Well Done!”
Whether on a formal or informal basis, Christians have many quality and Biblically based resources to turn to for instruction, tutelage and insight. The Holy Bible is the greatest book of all and should demand a majority of our time and effort. However, do not be afraid to expand your spiritual growth as you read Godly material that will not only help you but benefit the Kingdom of God as you serve in leadership and grow in His grace.
The New Testament surely has a great story which correlates with this. It is found in Luke 2: 42-52. In this passage I have underlined several things of note that I ask you to note. The Bible reads:
42 And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast.
43 When they had finished the days, as they returned, the Boy Jesus lingered behind in Jerusalem. And Joseph and His mother did not know it;
44 but supposing Him to have been in the company, they went a day's journey, and sought Him among their relatives and acquaintances.
45 So when they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking Him.
46 Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions.
47 And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers.
48 So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, "Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously."
49 And He said to them, "Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father's business?"
50 But they did not understand the statement which He spoke to them.
51 Then He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them, but His mother kept all these things in her heart.
52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
Beloved, make time to read God’s Word. Make time to read things that will help you spiritually grow. Read materials and books that will enhance your leadership skills and talents within the Church. Make time to increase in God’s wisdom and strive to continually be about the Father’s business. Go to the Christian bookstore and pick out some books to broaden your walk with Jesus or better yet…. Come check out a book from our library here at the Church; one of the greatest FREE resources you will ever find of great Christian literature and thought.
In a world that spends so much time in front of the computer screen, changing the television channels and wasting the time away… pick up the “Good Book” and spend some time with God. Make time to read the Bible and any other Christian supplemental materials that will help you along life’s way. Followers of other false religions can quote and many have even memorized their entire text. Jesus Christ Himself increased in wisdom. What should that lesson teach us?
Author T. Harv Eker said, "The effective read and grow. The apathetic think they already know."
Let us pray:       Dear Lord Jesus, help us to spiritually grow. Instill in us a desire to read, study and apply Your Word. Help us to slow down and READ and to truly “study to show thyself approved.” Bless us with a safe and happy weekend and prepare our hearts for worship and praise to Jesus Christ. Forgive us of all sin and help us to be Christ-like wherever we may go. Heal the hurts and mend the pains. Let our lives be a reflection of the mercy, grace and love You have given to us. In Jesus precious and dear name… AMEN.
I LOVE YOU!!!
TAKE TIME TO READ those lessons and things that come from our God!!! It is important!!!
Have a great weekend!! Come and join us at Daniels Chapel Church where great things for Jesus Christ are happening!!

“LOVE WINS!”

“And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”
(I Corinthians 13: 13)
Thursday morning I was on my way to Greenville for an appointment and to also make some pastoral visits at Vidant Medical Center. While on the way I stopped by Farmville at one of my favorite restaurants, BOJANGLE’S for a country ham biscuit and some good ‘ole southern sweet tea!! While in the drive-thru I noticed a nice Jeep Cherokee in front of me with a very bold window sticker. That sticker is the subject of this thought today for it read; LOVE WINS!
Let me share with you several reasons today why I am filled with joy to God that LOVE WINS.
·         LOVE WINS because Jesus Christ was born and victory came at Calvary.

·         LOVE WINS for the fact that there is an empty tomb and the realization that Jesus Christ ascended to Heaven.

·         LOVE WINS because at this very moment Christ stands ready to intercede as my personal Great High Priest to our loving and awesome Heavenly Father.

·         LOVE WINS because God sent His Holy Spirit to live in our lives; a force to lead, guide, sustain and move us forward in faith in Christ each and every day.

·         LOVE WINS because God sent us His Word and established His Church; a place where we come together to Worship, Praise, Pray, Study, Serve, Give and offer acts of affection, appreciation and applause back to the Lord as we grow in discipleship and spiritual growth.

·         LOVE WINS because Jesus has gone away to Heaven to prepare a place for spiritually prepared people to one day go and live with God.

·         LOVE WINS because the Rapture is around the corner and Jesus will forever reign as King of Kings.

·         LOVE WINS because every person that is a true born again Christian has received God’s forgiveness and pardon and has the opportunity and privilege to enter Heaven’s gates one day to live with Christ forever more.

·         LOVE WINS because of our Almighty God!!

·         LOVE WINS because God is LOVE!!!!
How can you spread the news that LOVE WINS? There are a lot of ways but let us focus on three thoughts I have today. First of all, accept this love and be thankful for it. Do not be just a hearer of God’s Word, but be a doer.
Secondly, be a Christian wherever you go. Jesus Christ speaks many times about hypocrites in His Word. May God through His Spirit help all of us remain true to the cause and abide in His Presence and Spirit so that our lives are lived in honor, praise and service to Jesus Christ. The world needs to see Jesus living in each of us and not the world taking first place in our heart and center-stage in our choices or preferences.
Third, express love in the midst of hate. In our world there is war. In our community and nation there is much controversy, hatred, opposition, rivalry, jealousy and too many problems to mention as individuals miss use their tongue, waste their talents, spend away God’s treasures and misappropriate time for many causes that are not for Christ but against His will and ways.
I believe God speaks volumes through Paul in the 13th Chapter of I Corinthians. Take time to study these verses and as you do meditate on what God is saying. May we take these words to heart for without LOVE we are nothing.
Jesus has shown LOVE to us; let us return that LOVE to Him and to others. No matter the circumstance or situation, let us learn to forgive and remember that it is best to forget and let the past be the past. Grudges, lingering ill will, resentment and trying to even the score never pays. It damages all parties now and can have lingering effects for eternity. Confusion and controversy as well as pride, selfishness and ego is controlled and rooted in Satan. Satan is the father of hate. Jesus Christ is the author, giver and example of LOVE!!
My friends, that window sticker today reminded me of many powerful lessons. As you drive around, maybe even in a BOJANGLE’S drive-thru; do not be surprised at the fact that God is sending messages in multiple ways and venues. I hope this internet message does the same for you and will help you focus on LOVE; LOVE FOR CHRIST and LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER. We can have everything in the world, but if we do NOT have the LOVE of Jesus in our heart and are living that LOVE toward all people then the scriptures say that “we are nothing.”
LET US PRAY: Dear Lord, Thank You that because of who You are and what you have and will always be that LOVE WINS. Thank You for extending that LOVE to us where we find forgiveness and fresh new opportunities in life. As we come to You in this prayer, help us to share that LOVE back to You that You have freely given to us. Allow Your Spirit to lead our life with a desire and passion to share that LOVE back to all people. Thank You for allowing me to read that window sticker today. May its message speak to all hearts as it has spoken to mine. Thank You God that YOUR LOVE WINS!!! In Christ Name…. AMEN.
Please come and worship with us at Daniels Chapel Church this Sunday as we celebrate Jesus Christ and the fact that LOVE WINS!!!!
Always know that I LOVE THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND I LOVE YOU!!! Blessings and peace to all!!!
In His Service,
Pastor Johnny

In One Accord

(Philippians 2:2) “Fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.”

One of the first songs the Choir shared one Sunday over 16 years ago when I came to DCC was an anthem titled, “In One Accord.”  Many of you have heard our singers and musicians do such a wonderful job with this piece of music. Its chorus states, In One Accord, before the Lord. We lift our voices TOGETHER. As one we sing, before our King, worshipping In One Accord.”
That song has always spoken to my heart since the very first day I heard it for many Biblical and spiritual reasons. God wants His people to be in one accord with Jesus as our Savior and Lord so that we win the lost to Jesus Christ. Is it possible in our day and time that some have lost their focus and forsaken their first love? The sad thing to say is that many folks who claim to be Christians are NOT in love with one another as God demands or with God’s commission. When that occurs it prohibits revival and the spreading of His Good News. If you do not believe that is true, check out CNN’s website on Tuesday where it is now reporting that 1 out of 5 Americans claim no religious affiliation at all with over 13 million atheist and agnostics in our country.
Another sad thing to say is that many in the Church are not full of joy because they are not like minded as Paul states in the verse. Being like minded in Christ means that I think and act like Jesus and I will follow His Holy Spirit as my guide. True believers love, forgive and surrender their life for a greater cause of the Kingdom. If you check out Jesus in the Gospels that is exactly what He did. This verse implies that the love we received from God in Christ is one we will share with others no matter of opinion, preference or circumstance. The goal is salvation; no matter the method we use in Christ to get there!! This same love and mindset according to the Bible leads to harmony as the Church moves into the future “In One Accord.”
You would be amazed how much I cry. In fact, you would be taken away at how often I weep. It is very true: I weep many days for God’s Church because I long for the Church to be “In One Accord.” For example, I weep for the Church of Jesus Christ in the day in which we live because I do not see harmony any more. Too many people want it their way instead of God’s. I weep for the Church because I do not see Christians in love with God and His Church as they use to be. In fact some Christians today are not loving people. More folks in our day and time fill their time and agenda with things they prefer rather than the desires and wishes of Christ. I weep because people will not come to Worship or even take time out of their schedules while they are here to come and pray.
When I was in India a couple of years ago it touched my heart to see the unity and camaraderie of the Christians. Under persecution and strife, these folks banded together for the common good of God. I remember some of the men riding their bicycles 5 hours one day to come and hear me preach the Word of God, yet we have many on our roll who will not get out of bed or turn the television off and drive 10 minutes to come and be with the Lord. Many people on our roll at DCC and some that receive these messages will not come back to Church for Worship and its many activities, yet I have prayed for them, written them countless emails and text messages. I weep for these people because I love them and miss them. I have even offered to go visit if they would open their home to me for prayer and dialog. I also weep because of the evilness and decisiveness that Satan has embedded in some folks as he uses trickery, deception and flat out manipulation to tear individuals lives far away from the teachings of Jesus and the attributes of a loving Savior. I weep for people beloved no matter where they are who are lost. Here is the main reason I become distraught at times, for I weep because many people are losing their very soul right in front of our eyes as they play around with Christianity when Canaanland is just in sight!!”
The Albert Barnes Commentary said this on our verse today. He said, “Perfect unity of sentiment, opinion, and plan would be desirable, if it could be attained. It may be, so far as to prevent discord, schism, contention, and strife in the church, and so that Christians may be harmonious in promoting the same great work--the salvation of souls.  Our love is to be to the same objects, and the same love one for another. Though their opinions might differ on some points, yet they might be united in love. Being in one accord means a union of soul; or acting together as if but one soul actuated them.  The Church should think the same thing. Paul wished them to avoid all divisions and strife; and to show the power of religion by being united in the common cause. Probably there is no single thing so much insisted on in the New Testament as the importance of harmony among Christians. Now, there is almost nothing so little known; but if it prevailed, the world would soon be converted to God.”
My friends be very, very careful. Satan is on the prowl and demonic spirits are around us. Make every attempt to not be trapped by Satan and strive to listen to the voice of God!! Do your best to live “In One Accord” with Jesus Christ and with your brothers and sisters in the Lord. Our ambition must not be self-satisfaction or to be pleased and catered. Our job is to win people to Jesus Christ no matter the price, method, sacrifice or cost.
An Internet poem read:
All His children working in One Accord,
Working on a Mission sent from the Lord.
Through us He is bringing the Word to each and everyone,
Telling all the Good News sent through Jesus His Son.
We are to be the lights for everyone to see,
To take them out of the darkness and into the light they will be.
God’s children in One Accord is what others need to see,
The Father said it, because He knew how important it would be.”
That beautiful song I referenced earlier also said, “There’s no time to be divided His Word must be shared, so many are hurting to know someone cares. For we have been chosen as His light to shine, oh we must united in one heart and mind.”
Let us pray:  Dear God, My prayer today is for love, unity, peace and joy to come to the entire Church of Jesus Christ. Forgive us of our sins and shortcomings. Help Your children to be “In One Accord.” In Jesus’ Name. AMEN.
Have a blessed Wednesday. Please come and joins us at Daniels Chapel Church for Bible study, fellowship and youth and music activities.
I LOVE YOU!!

Steps to Success

I have been reading materials, books and information from world renowned theologian and Christian author John Maxwell for some time. Let me share with you a couple of things he wrote that I ask you to slowly read, meditate and spiritually think about. Maxwell said, We cannot become what we need by remaining what we are.”
On Good Morning America Thursday morning, several people were being interviewed regarding their triumphs on the show The Biggest Loser. One young man who had lost over a hundred pounds of weight spoke about his keys to success. He mentioned three words that should get our attention spiritually. They were dedication, determination and devotion.
You will never become what you can be in Jesus Christ by remaining where you are. The Christian walk is one of challenge, faith and focus. For example it takes dedication to be sold out 1000% for Jesus. It takes determination to stand up against all odds in our day and time to say that “I am a Christian” and “I am not ashamed of it!” It also takes devotion; devotion to a Heavenly Father who has been totally more devoted to us than any of us ever deserved. When you stop and think about it, this is contradictory to the world and what it says. But what is more important? Pleasing others and gaining prestige in this world or pleasing Jesus Christ?
God never created you spiritually to stay where you are. Every one of us needs to become spiritually stronger and not weaker every day in life. Some want to remain where they are. Is God happy about this?
Beloved, God wants you to excel and move higher and higher with Jesus Christ. To accomplish this major goal that brings joy down in the heart and wonderful sweet peace, then it is up to us spiritually to follow the advice the young man gave Thursday morning on Good Morning America.
How do you do this? How can you be dedicated, devoted and determined for Jesus Christ? John Maxwell writes:
“Seven Steps to Success
1) Make a commitment to grow daily.
2) Value the process more than events.
3) Don't wait for inspiration.
4) Be willing to sacrifice pleasure for opportunity.
5) Dream big.
6) Plan your priorities.
7) Give up to go up.”
Join us Sunday as I begin a new series of messages on the subject Give Yourself Away.” Our text is derived from the words Jesus says in (Luke 6:38) which read,Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you."
Please come to our services Sunday morning and make a point to be back Sunday night!!! Make it your aim in life everyday to live for Jesus Christ. Bring honor and glory to His name. Follow the 7 Steps to Success. Be dedicated, devoted and determined to God!!
I LOVE YOU!!!
Have an awesome weekend!! SEE YOU SUNDAY!!!

The Battle of the Mind

In my journey of life I have come to realize that we all have many battles which are in common. One of those is with the mind. Books, magazines and seminars have been written and developed on this subject which is pertinent to all of us; for our thought processes can be our best friend or even be used to be our enemy.

Life is not easy. Life is not fair. Life is good however because God is good!! The Good News for those of us who are saved is that Jesus Christ is in control and by His grace we are granted unmerited favor to get through the daily grind. Whether young or old, male or female we battle the constant bombardment of daily issues which can dampen our faith; tactics used by Satan himself to spiritually tear us apart and take us away from our Heavenly Father if we are not on guard suited with the shield of faith.

My dear friends, I know from personal experience what we must do in times of spiritual famine as the devil battles our mind. I could write my own books about the many battles of the mind Satan has and continues to put me through, yet each time a struggle begins God comes shining through!! Satan knows where each of us are our weakest and you can rest assured that the battles have come and will come again. With this in mind, what can we do mentally that will help us spiritually? What daily applications can we apply to life to help sustain and get us through?

First of all, run to God’s Holy Word for in the scriptures we find many passages which reaffirm who we are in Christ and a truth that through God’s power and assistance Satan is defeated. Do not run to idleness, spiritual laziness or the easy chair. Be proactive and fight by the power of God’s Word and the strength of His sword, the Word of God. Secondly, we must continually stay in a spirit of prayer. One of our faithful members at the Church recently told me, “Pastor Johnny, I am always praying.” Brothers and Sisters--- take that same attitude. Do not simply pray in the morning when you arise or in the evening when you go to bed. Do not simply pray at meal time for the food that is before you. Continually throughout your day stay with Jesus in prayer and seek His face for His hand can heal and help each of us with the “Battle of the Mind.” The third and final thing I would suggest is to lean on your Christian brothers and sisters in Christ. Our staff is always here to speak with you and pray. We have other wonderful Christian folks at Daniels Chapel who are ready to “stand in the gap.” My encouragement to you is that when you feel like you have reached the end of the road and no one cares, remember that Jesus does and so do we!!! As the song of old says, “Everybody needs somebody to lean on!!”

Today and everyday… do not let Satan steal your joy. God created you to run the race and to be awesome in His sight. Make godly decisions and let His Spirit direct your path. You are fearfully and wonderfully made by God with a purpose and awesome destiny. Do not make stupid decisions and think before you act or speak. Even though past times have looked bleak, look in faith to the future for better times and days to come.

Rest assured….Satan is going to try to get in your head today. He wants you to be down on yourself, down on the Church and down on Jesus Christ and other people. When he does, overthrow Him through the power of the Bible and have a quiet time in prayer with your God. Lean on each other and trust in God to win the “Battle of the Mind.”

Joyce Meyer has written a lot on this subject. In her book In Pursuit of Peace she writes, “A life of frustration and struggle, a life without peace is the result of trying to do something about something you cannot do anything about. Once we realize that we are struggling with something and feel upset, we need to start praying and immediately turn the situation over to God.”

She also writes on an internet blog these words, “Each day our minds are bombarded with a constant stream of nagging thoughts, suspicions, doubts and fears. While any one of these can cause defeat and devastation, we are often plagued by more than one…filling our daily lives with mental combat against an array of aggressors. It's a painful process to face our deceptions and deal with them. It's so easy to allow our past and how we were raised to negatively affect us for the rest of our lives. Our past may explain why we're suffering, but we must not use it as an excuse to stay in bondage. You may have some major strongholds in your life that need to be torn down. Let me encourage you by saying, "God is on your side." There is a war going on, and your mind is the battlefield. But the good news is that God is fighting on your side!”

The Bible says:

(Ephesians 6:12-13) “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

(Colossians 3:2) “Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.”

(James 4:7) “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”

(Philippians 4:8) “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things.”

Let us pray: Dear God, life is a battle. You know this very well. Help each of us control our thoughts and attitudes as we look to You in faith and Word. As Satan sends forth His array of tactics to spiritually overthrow us, help us to stay firm in Your Word, fervent in prayer and seek out the assistance and wisdom of our other brothers and sisters in Christ. Thank You Jesus for winning the war. Help each of us in the battle. In Christ precious and loving name, AMEN.

Come see us Wednesday at Daniels Chapel!! A great day of Worship, fellowship and activity is being planned. Don’t let the devil talk you into staying at home on Wednesday. Come join us for worship and praise to Jesus Christ!!

I LOVE YOU!!

Pastor Johnny

P.S. A few other things…

1.   Please support the Food Drive for Hope. At this time we are having to spend around $400 a week from funds at Hope Station to stock the shelves with food. The more food we collect, the less we have to spend. Please support the Youth in this endeavor!!

2.   I also want to encourage you to support our Stewardship Campaign. At this time we have received pledges and gifts over $55,000. We are only $20,000 away from getting ready to remodel and update the Church Sanctuary. Please prayerfully consider giving to the Lord and His Church so we can very soon move forward with this project. I will be glad to speak with any of you at anytime on how you can support and be a part of this project. Just remember…. God looks at the heart and the gift, not the amount!!! Let us rally around this cause and get this done for Christ and the Church.

3.   Many thanks to all of you for your prayers for my dad. We have been at the Oncologist office today and here is the latest updates. My dad does have something that we are dealing with, we just do not know what. I can tell you that he has an enlarged nodule in his right lung. He is also a cancer survivor from 13 years back. My dad is scheduled for a bone scan in Wilson at the Hospital on Friday. Secondly, he will be having a broncoscopy in the coming days where they will go into the bronchial tube of his lung and biopsy the area of concern. The bones around his lung are also showing signs of concern, which is why they have ordered a bone scan for Friday. All of this has happened quickly. A year ago, none of this showed up in his chest x-ray. Now we have an issue. I am very appreciative to all of you for your calls, notes, text messages and for checking in on my family and me. Your prayers and support have always meant more to me than words can describe. As you know, my heart is broken and overwhelmed by all of this. I do know that GOD IS GOOD and He is going to take care of my dad no matter what. The Lord Jesus Christ healed him 13 years ago from lymphoma. I am convinced that Christ can do this again!! Thanks for your prayers for us. Please do not stop now or forever!!
